My name is Rick Hansen and I thank you for your
inquiry. I asked to be your State Representative to represent
your dreams, needs and ideas in the Minnesota Legislature. I asked for
your support because I believe I can make things better for the people of
House District 39A.
I want a better future for my family and yours. I will fight for:
Education
- A strong public education system with smaller
class sizes
- Increased Early Childhood Family Education
(ECFE) funding and support of early childhood education
- Reducing tuition to make higher education affordable
Jobs
- The right of workers to organize for good jobs
to support working families
- Budget and bonding bills that reinvest in our
infrastructure
- Recognizing the work public service and public servants contribute to Minnesota
Environment
- Improving water quality in lakes, streams and
groundwater
- Implementing conservation practices to enhance
wildlife and quality of life
- Improving our park system
Health Care
- Providing support for assisted living and in
home health care
- Encouraging pre-natal classes and birth
education and protecting reproductive freedom
- Protecting the integrity of the heath care access fund
These are issues I want to work on for you. The State of Minnesota faces significant financial challenges ahead. As your representative, I would listen and learn from you to be your champion at the Capitol. I have the energy and experience to help shape a better future for House District 39A and Minnesota.
I have a record of accomplishment you can trust:
- Co-chairing the Vote Yes on One campaign in 2002 to protect Farmland and Natural Areas
in Dakota County. We won 57% to 43% in a tough election year
- Working with state legislators and Congress to
support soil conservation and water quality. I fought for more
conservation and was successful in getting federal conservation money
for Thompson Lake improvements in West St. Paul.
- Leadership as being elected Chair of the Dakota
Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) for 5 years, the Metro
Association of SWCDs for 5 years and on state and national committees
- Being invited by US EPA to a Homeland Security planning effort after 9/11 in regard to the use of pesticides as weapons of chemical attack
Today’s political tone is often critical or negative. Minnesotans cannot afford this level of internal divisiveness. We must strengthen our well-deserved reputation as a future-oriented progressive state. I will work hard for you. Let me know how I can help.
Sincerely,
Rep. Rick Hansen
